These rules are meant to act as protection for the vendors and for the general public. These are not meant to infringe on people’s freedom, but are a necessity for the credibility of the paper. We hope all vendors are courteous and professional when they distribute the paper.
1) Vendors must be sober and drug free while they are pitching the paper.
2) Vendors will not panhandle while pitching the paper.
3) Vendors must wear their badges in a clear and visible manner when pitching the papers.
4) Vendors may not loan papers or their badge to other people (including other vendors).
5) Vendors may not fight over territorial issues. Territory is on a first come first serve basis. Any other disputes should be brought up at vendor meetings.
6) Vendors will not pitch in doorways, directly in front of businesses, near ATM machines or obstructing the public walkways.
7) Vendors must go through orientation and training prior to receiving a badge.
8) Vendors must not use abusive language or aggressive behavior with the public or other vendors while selling the paper.
9) Vendors receive the first ten papers free upon completing orientation and training. Each paper after that costs the vendor $0.25. Papers are distributed for a suggested $1 donation.
10) Vendors will not “hard sell” anyone.
11) Vendors are responsible for their papers once they purchase them.
12) Vendors who violate the code of conduct will be suspended for two weeks. After two suspensions the vendor will be terminated.
